OMV Petrom announced, through a statement sent to the Bucharest Stock Exchange, that it will pay a solidarity tax of approximately 300 million euro for 2022 and of about 76 million euro for the first quarter (Q1) of 2023. The contribution for the entire year 2023 will be paid at the end of June 2024.

“On May 12, 2023, Law no. 119/2023 for the approval of the Emergency Government Ordinance 186/2022 implementing Council Regulation (EU) 2022/1854 regarding the solidarity contribution.

“For companies that produce and refine crude oil, the law introduces the obligation to pay 350 lei for each ton of crude oil processed in 2022 and 2023.

“Therefore, OMV Petrom estimates a solidarity contribution of approximately 1,500 million lei for fiscal year 2022, to be paid at the end of June 2023. This will be reflected in Q2/23, in the Statement of income and expenses as a line separated by the ‘Profit before tax’ line. For Q1/23, the value of the solidarity contribution is estimated at approximately 380 million lei and will also be reflected in the results for Q2/23. The contribution for the entire year 2023 will be paid at the end of June 2024,” the statement sent to investors reveals.
