INS: Turnover in industry increased by 4.7% in 2016

The turnover in the industry sector increased by 4.7% in 2016, compared to 2015 due to the growth of the manufacturing industry (+5.8%), but the extractive industry decreased by 27%, according to data centralized by the National Statistics Institute (INS).

On the main industrial groups, increases in turnover were registered in the durable goods industry (+17.7%), the capital goods industry (+10%), the industry of current use goods (+ 6%) and the intermediate goods industry (+0.7%). Decreases were registered in the energy industry (-10.7%).

Thus, in December 2016, compared with the previous month, the industry turnover decreased by 10.9% due to the decrease in the manufacturing industry (-11.2%). The extractive industry increased by 1.5%, indicates the INS data.

According to INS, on the main industrial groups, decreases were registered in the durable goods industry (-20.5%), the intermediate goods industry (-20%), the capital goods industry (-9.7%) and the industry of current use goods (-2.9%). The energy industry grew by 10.5%.

In 2016, the industry turonver increased overall by 7.3%, driven by the increases in the manufacturing industry (+8.6%), but the extractive industry decreased by 24.4% compared to the same period in 2015, also indicates the INS data.
