Asociația Inginerilor Energeticieni și Electricieni (AIEE) organised debates between students, academic staff and industry specialists, alongside visits to wind and hydropower facilities, on 22-24 October 2026. The activities formed part of AIEE Talk Iași and ChargeUp Trip 2026, dedicated to the professional development of future power engineers.

Applied research in faculties and financial and technical support from companies for student projects were the topics of the roundtable “Frontiers of Research in Power and Electrical Engineering”. The debate brought together academics and specialists from university centres in Iași, București, Constanța and Chișinău. According to AIEE’s report, the discussions focused on collaboration starting during university studies, to provide access to current technologies, practical experience and mentoring.

The AIEE Talk panel, held on 23 October in the context of the EPEi 2026 international conference, brought together over 150 participants, according to the association. Topics included the energy transition, environmental challenges, power grid stability and the integration of new technologies.

The need for specialists was highlighted by Gabriela Păsărică, Competition Compliance Officer at Eximprod: “We are witnessing a massive influx of capital and European funds, with numerous projects underway, and the workforce poses a real challenge.”

The practical component of the programme began on 22 October with a visit to the Prowind wind farm in Vaslui County, organised with support from PPC Renewables. AIEE reports approximately 70 participants. The programme included stops at the Banca and Bogdănești substations, as well as observing the installed turbines and ongoing installation work at CEE Viișoara Sud.

On 24 October, a group of 14 AIEE members and young volunteers visited Barajul Bicaz and Centrala Hidroelectrică “Dimitrie Leonida” (Stejaru), facilities operated by Hidroelectrica. The visit aimed to familiarise participants with hydropower infrastructure, hydrotechnical equipment and the role of hydropower in balancing the national power system.

The Iași edition opened the autumn session of the “Carieră în Industria Energetică și Electrică” programme, following the events organised in spring in Timișoara, Chișinău, București and Petroșani. According to the press release dated 29 October, the session will conclude in November 2026 in Constanța.
