ING Bank Romania ended the first half of 2026 with revenues of 2.1 billion lei, up 1.6% compared to the first half of 2025. Lending activity maintained its positive dynamics, with a 14.9% increase in volumes, up to a total of 52 billion lei, while deposits remained attractive to customers, registering an advance of 5.4%, up to 72.5 billion lei.

“Over 810 million euros were mobilized for projects supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy. The financing was mainly directed towards improving energy efficiency in the real estate sector and towards decarbonization investments in key areas of the economy. A relevant example is the refinancing of Delgaz Grid, the related investments will contribute to reducing network losses, increasing the stability of the energy system and integrating a higher share of renewable energy into the national infrastructure, while supporting the resilience of the energy system and Romania’s objectives for 2030”, the bank’s officials claim.

“Beyond the increasing preference for digital services, we also observe a growing interest in more energy-efficient homes. In the ING portfolio, 50.5% of mortgage loans granted in the first half of the year financed properties with a class A energy performance certificate, compared to 40.8% at the end of 2025. Through ING Personal Eco, customers benefit from financing under preferential conditions, with a fixed interest rate of 5.99%, for investments that contribute to the efficiency of energy consumption in the home or the adoption of low-emission mobility solutions,” the bank’s officials add.

To help Romanians, including its customers, better understand and optimize their energy consumption and associated costs, EFdeN, with the support of ING, launched the first complete and free digital energy efficiency simulator in Romania. By completing a simple questionnaire, apartment owners can assess the energy performance of their home and identify efficient investment solutions to reduce energy consumption.

“At the same time, we are strengthening our role on international financial markets by participating in landmark transactions for Romania. ING Bank was one of the arrangers of a sovereign bond issue worth 4 billion dollars, the largest transaction of this type ever carried out by Romania. Structured in three tranches, with maturities of 5, 10 and 30 years, and including a refinancing component, the transaction attracted strong interest from international investors and contributed to strengthening Romania’s position on foreign markets.”

In the first half of the year, ING attracted another 120,000 new clients, of which approximately 43% chose the bank through the Bring a Friend referral program. At the same time, 95% of individual customers actively use ING products and services, accessing the Home’Bank application on average daily, in a context in which the experience offered to customers is constantly evaluated at a very high level.

“The first half of the year marked a solid start for ING Bank Romania, supported by good commercial dynamics and a resilient financial performance. We are pleased to see that the experience we offer continues to attract more and more Romanians to ING, including a new generation of users: 50,000 of the new customers attracted this semester are under 24 years old. At the same time, in the middle of the year we reached an important threshold, reaching 2 million active customers, individuals and legal entities, out of a total of 2.2 million bank customers. This means that over 90% of our customer base actively uses ING products and services, considering them relevant to their daily lives. This growth was achieved organically, through constant use and recommendations from customers, in a business model that placed digitalization at the heart of the banking experience”, said Mihaela Bîtu, CEO of ING Bank Romania.
