Today, February 19, 2026, Hidroelectrica signed the contract for the turnkey implementation of the “Țara Hațegului Photovoltaic Park” project, a new strategic step towards diversifying the production portfolio and consolidating the company’s position on the renewable energy market.
The contract, worth over 24 million lei excluding VAT, was awarded following an open tender procedure, to which four offers were submitted. Following their evaluation, the offer submitted by the association of Electro-Alfa International and General Me.El Electric was declared the winner, in which Electro-Alfa International is the association leader.
The project provides for the development of a photovoltaic park with an installed capacity of 8.9 MWp and an average production estimated at approximately 11 GWh/year. The investment will contribute to increasing the production capacity from renewable sources, reducing carbon emissions and supporting national and European objectives regarding the energy transition.

We focus on implementing sustainable projects that bring long-term value to shareholders, customers and local communities,” said Bogdan Badea, CEO of Hidroelectrica.
The project will be implemented on a turnkey basis and will include design activities, equipment supply, works execution, testing, commissioning and technical assistance during the warranty period. The duration of the contract is 12 months, of which 2 months will be the design phase and 10 months will last for execution.
With this investment, Hidroelectrica consolidates its leading position in renewable energy production in Romania, continuing its strategy of developing new renewable energy production capacities, complementary to its hydropower portfolio. Hidroelectrica is the largest producer of electricity from renewable sources in Romania and one of the most important players in the energy sector of South-Eastern Europe. With a portfolio of over 6.3 GW of installed capacity in hydropower plants, cumulated with the Crucea wind farm, the company contributes to national energy security and to achieving the decarbonization objectives set by EU policies.
