Romania could benefit from 14 billion euro through the Modernization Fund, after the price of carbon dioxide emission certificates doubled, said Niculae Havrileţ, director and expert within the Ministry of Energy.

“The Modernization Fund, which will be managed by the Ministry of Energy and which is supported by the trading system of CO2 certificates, a fund of which at the beginning of its initiation we had 6-7 billion euros until 2027, with doubling the price it is very possible that this amount will double as well,” the official said, according to Agerpres.

According to him, our country will receive another 1.6 billion euros through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, for energy, to which are added the fair transition funds, for the areas where the polluting thermal power plants are closed.

“So, there are very generous funds, we need stable, predictable legislation, not to be changed in the next 10 years, and other incentive mechanisms, such as the possibility to conclude long-term contracts, for the futures sale of energy, which investors can use in relation to banks,” added Havrileţ.
