The government is preparing legislative amendments and expropriations for strategic energy projects, according to a statement sent by the Executive. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan asked the ministries involved to accelerate projects regarding high-voltage networks, as well as interconnection projects with neighboring states, in a working meeting organized on Tuesday at Victoria Palace.

The Head of Government requested the amendment of the legislation to reduce the terms for approving energy projects of national importance, given that the current procedures are considered too slow and affect the pace of investments in the sector, according to Hotnews.

According to the decisions discussed at the meeting, the Ministry of Energy will start consultations with the other ministries involved to prepare legislative solutions that would introduce shorter terms for the approval and authorization of energy infrastructure projects.

In parallel, the Government is also analyzing the acceleration of the procedures for the expropriation of land necessary for the implementation of investments in the electricity transmission network – a mandatory stage before the start of works. Currently, several draft Government Decisions targeting these expropriations are already in the approval circuit.
