The Ministry of Energy offers 108.8 million euro in state aid for seven energy efficiency projects in industry.
Thus, the Ministry of Energy announces the completion of the evaluation and selection process of the projects submitted within the call based on a competitive bidding procedure “Support for the modernization of EU ETS installations at BAT level, in order to increase energy efficiency”, financed by the Modernization Fund – Key Program no. 7 “Energy efficiency in industrial installations included in the EU ETS”.
Thus, Azomureș receives 28 million euros, OMV Petrom – 23 million euros, Chimcomplex – 26.58 million, DS Smith Paper – 565,824, Donalam – 13 million euros and Romcim – 14 million euros.
The projects target investments in installations and equipment specific to the industrial sector, as well as in systems intended to modernize and monitor equipment and optimize energy consumption at the level of economic operators covered by the EU greenhouse gas emission allowance trading scheme (EU ETS).
Projects were submitted by 11 beneficiaries during the procedure, with a total value of 384.30 million euros and a requested state aid amounting to 165.3 million euros.
Following the evaluation and selection process, 7 projects were approved for financing, with a total value of approximately 290 million euros. The value of the approved state aid is 108.86 million euros.
By implementing the investments financed under this measure, it is estimated that significant results will be achieved in terms of energy efficiency and emission reduction, namely the cumulative reduction of energy consumption by approximately 990,000 MWh/year and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 239,000 tons of CO₂ equivalent/year.
Through this financing scheme, the Ministry of Energy supports the modernization of industrial facilities, the reduction of energy consumption and the increase of the competitiveness of economic operators, in parallel with the reduction of the carbon footprint of the industrial sector.
