Over 300,000 companies in Romania will be affected by the second wave of the economic crisis, many of them starting the week with the decisions to send employees home in technical unemployment and, unfortunately, laying off some employees, shows a Frames analysis.

Many of the companies directly affected by the economic crisis have been waiting to see the ordinance regarding the economic measures announced by the Government published, and starting Monday they have registered the technical unemployment decisions.

According to analysts from Frames, there are over 300,000 companies currently affected by the second wave of the economic crisis.

Most are micro and small enterprises, with a maximum of 20 employees, from areas such as HORECA, services to the population (tourism, events, beauty salons, game rooms, neighborhood shops, etc.), which closed their activity on the background of administrative decisions and, in many cases, as a result of the dramatic drop in revenue.

”There are over 400,000 employees in hotels and restaurants alone, who will be laid off or sent into technical unemployment. Unfortunately, the contagion is even bigger, given that business chains are affected by a wide range of services,” says Frames analysts.

According to estimates of the consulting company, over 1 million employees in the economy will be left without jobs during the period March-April, unless the state of emergency is lifted. The estimation does not take into account the personnel employed without legal forms, a practice still very present in the economy.
