HELLENiQ Renewables, a subsidiary of HELLENiQ ENERGY, has installed the first of 15 turbines at the 96 MW Ansthall wind farm under construction in Galați County, with commercial operation scheduled for 2027. Depending on weather conditions, the developer expects another two turbines to be installed by mid-August.
The project uses Vestas turbines with a hub height of 134 metres and a rotor diameter of 162 metres. Construction has moved into the turbine installation phase after foundations for all 15 units were completed. The access-road infrastructure is also finished, while the 33 kV internal cable network has been installed.
The first turbine marks a new execution stage for a project that will expand HELLENiQ ENERGY’s Romanian portfolio beyond solar generation and into onshore wind. “We appreciate the efforts made by our partners in the development of the Ansthall wind farm and thank all those who contribute to the progress of this project, through which we will contribute to Romania’s energy production,” said Mihai Darie, director of HELLENiQ Renewables Romania.
HELLENiQ ENERGY expands its Romanian renewable portfolio
The Ansthall wind farm is being developed under environmental management requirements that include measures for wildlife protection and continuous environmental monitoring during both construction and operation, according to the company.
HELLENiQ ENERGY entered the operational renewable generation market in Romania earlier in 2026 with two photovoltaic parks in Teleorman and Olt counties, with a combined capacity of 58 MW. Another 153 MW of photovoltaic capacity is expected to be completed and enter commercial operation during 2026.
The group says its renewable energy development portfolio in Romania now exceeds 850 MW and includes wind, solar and energy storage projects. The transition of Ansthall from civil works to turbine installation therefore represents another step in converting that development pipeline into operating capacity. For contractors, technology suppliers and service providers, progress across several technologies also points to continuing demand for construction, grid infrastructure, commissioning, operation and environmental services as HELLENiQ ENERGY advances its Romanian projects toward completion.
