Future Energy Leaders (FEL) Romania, the youth platform of the Romanian National Committee of the World Energy Council (CNR-WEC), announces the completion of its first social responsibility project, an initiative dedicated to the energy transition and supporting vulnerable communities.

The project aimed to implement a photovoltaic system, with an installed capacity of 16.02 kWp, at Maria Nursing Home, contributing to reducing energy costs and increasing the operational sustainability of the center. The home hosts 50 vulnerable people, and the quality of prosumer helps them save approximately between 15,000–16,500 RON/year.

The initiative was the result of a process coordinated by the FEL Romania team, with the support of a company that develops utility-scale photovoltaic projects in the Dobrogea area. Beyond the business objectives, the company aimed to actively engage in the local community and contribute to improving the living standards of vulnerable people.

FEL Romania members managed the implementation of the project from identifying the social cause and continued with the analysis of the beneficiary’s energy needs, structuring and attracting the necessary financing, as well as defining the optimal technical solution. The implemented solution has a total installed power of 16.02 kWp, and the on-grid system produces between 16,800 and 18,400 kWh annually, under optimal operating conditions.

The project also included coordinating the execution stages, monitoring the works, testing and commissioning the system, as well as training the beneficiary’s staff and ensuring the necessary documentation to obtain prosumer status.

We wanted to contribute to a solution that meets a need in the community and, at the same time, demonstrate that renewable technologies can have a direct impact on people’s lives. For us, at FEL Romania, this is also one of the important roles we assume: to create contexts in which people from energy, beyond their area of ​​expertise, can collaborate and transform an idea into a concrete project. Implementing a photovoltaic solution was an experience through which we went from planning to a result that generates benefits, in the long term, for the community”, adds Erdin Topor, Project Manager, FEL Romania.

Through this project, FEL Romania demonstrates how the expertise of young professionals can be transformed into sustainable impact for communities. At the same time, the project reflects the perspective of a new generation of energy leaders, who understand that, beyond infrastructure, technologies and industrial objectives, energy has an essential role in people’s lives and in the well-being of communities.
