Engie, one of five Western companies that joined as financing partners in Gazprom’s Nord Stream 2 project, condemned the situation in Ukraine and announced that it would comply with any sanctions that could be applied, Reuters reports.

In a statement, Engie said it had recently increased its purchases of natural gas and liquefied natural gas from Norway and said it had no industrial activity in Russia.

Last week, German authorities suspended procedures to authorize the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, a $11 billion project that would have doubled Russian gas supplies to Germany in response to Russia’s actions in Ukraine.
