The German business community is preparing a new platform for dialogue with Romania and the Republic of Moldova, with the organization of the Germany-Romania-Moldova Trilateral Economic Conference on November 27 in Stuttgart. The event, supported by the government of Baden-Württemberg and the German Eastern Business Association, aims to accelerate trade and investment between the three economies in a context marked by rapid industrial and energy transformations.

As far as Romania is concerned, energy remains an area of major interest for German investors, particularly due to renewable energy projects and natural reserves that support regional security. AHK Romania points out that, in parallel with industrial investments in 2024, German companies are also expanding their presence in the field of energy technologies, in a market where the need for modernisation and new projects is growing.

The Republic of Moldova is increasingly coming onto Germany’s radar, including through opportunities in renewable energy and agricultural biomass — a developing segment supported by expanding cooperation with the EU.

At the same time, trade is on an upward trend: over €42 billion between Germany and Romania in 2024 and €871 million between Germany and the Republic of Moldova, with prospects for growth through new investments in industry, technology, and defense.

The Stuttgart conference will bring together government representatives, investors, and companies to explore concrete projects in industry, energy, defense, and nearshoring—areas that are essential to the region’s economic resilience.
