Elnos Group, a company with almost 80 years of experience in the field of electricity in Europe, is strengthening its presence on the local market, focusing on the development of power lines and high-voltage grid projects, said Robert Schmidt, the company’s representative, at the conference “Energy Transition Cluj-Napoca 2025”, organized by Energynomics together with the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry – AHK Romania.

“We did an analysis of the markets and we realized that the trends were as follows: in the first phase everybody ran to the parks. Then we realized we were producing. But what do we do with this energy? Let’s do storage. Now the trend is towards batteries and now everybody is going to batteries. The next point of interest is going to be the lines because we’re going to produce energy that we’re not going to have anything to do with. We’ll store it in the projects we’re building today. And then we have to transport it somehow. That’s why we decided that for us at the moment the key point of development is the grid, of course, the grid connection, and the [transmission and distribution] lines,” Schmidt said.

The group employs around 800 people across Europe and expects to grow to more than 1,000 over the next three years. In Romania, the company already employs more than 50 specialists. According to Schmidt, there is currently “a gap on the market” in terms of companies capable of designing and executing complex work on high-voltage lines.

“There are very few companies that have the know-how, people and equipment for such projects,” he said, adding that Elnos has the turnover to participate in large-scale projects, which gives it a competitive advantage in a market where financing is often a barrier.
