Electricity traded on OPCOM’s day-ahead market (DAM; PZU) fell by 14.68% in December 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, to 598.84 lei per MWh. The value of transactions also decreased by about 29%, to 892 million lei. DAM’s market share decreased by 5.53% but remained, however, at over 32% of the forecasted net consumption – which also reveals to a certain extent the growing appetite of investors for bilateral contracts.

Reported in euros, the exchange rate variation led to a 16.62% decrease in the average closing price, while the decrease in the value of transactions was 30.5%, in the specified period.

Between November and December 2025, the price of energy on the DAM decreased by about 3 percent, while the value of transactions increased by over 9%, and the traded volume (MWh) increased by 14.88%, according to the OPCOM report consulted by Energynomics.

The intra-day market also experienced an annualized price decrease in December of 17.43% reported in lei (or 19.31% in euros), to 107 million lei – the market share of the intra-day segment being only 3.77% – up by about 4 percent compared to the previous year.

In December 2025, compared to the previous month, the share of the intra-day segment lost almost 21%, and the value of transactions decreased by almost 12%.

The report also shows a market share of 25.44% for bilateral contracts with delivery in December (PCCB-LE-FLEX) traded at OPCOM, the average price being of 524.44 lei per MWh, and the value of transactions – 606 million lei for 273 contracts.

In this segment, there were 33 bilateral contracts that established a price reference of 556.26 lei per MWh for future delivery, at a transaction value of 417 million lei.
