Romania is becoming one of the first European markets where Dunext is advancing both commercial and industrial storage deployments and utility-scale projects with its innovative BESS portfolio, signaling a broader regional push into Central and Eastern Europe. Romania’s fast-growing battery storage market is attracting a new wave of international players, and Dunext is clearly positioning itself among them, enjoying already strong interest from Romanian and regional partners.
Romania as an early deployment market
Romania’s storage segment is gaining momentum under the combined pressure of renewable integration, electricity price volatility, grid modernization and the need for greater flexibility in energy use and dispatch. Against this background, the company says it has already built a local operational base and deployed storage solutions in a range of commercial and industrial scenarios, from hotels and factories to farms and parking facilities. In such applications, battery systems are typically used to increase PV self-consumption and capture additional value through peak-valley electricity arbitrage.
Dunext also points to larger-scale projects already secured in Romania, including more than 40 MWh of containerized PowerMount systems for local energy companies. This illustrates how the company’s Romanian strategy covers both the behind-the-meter C&I segment and the utility-scale market.
Focus on PowerHill and PowerMount
At the center of Dunext’s local offer are two main product lines. For the C&I segment, the company is promoting its PowerHill systems, including the 215 kWh and 233 kWh versions and PowerMount 2MWh, aimed at applications where businesses need lower energy costs, backup capability and better integration with on-site solar generation.
For larger projects, Dunext is bringing forward its PowerMount 5 MWh containerized solutions, designed for industrial facilities, renewable energy parks and other high-capacity use cases. In both cases, the company emphasizes not only the hardware itself, but also the digital layer behind it, through the DuLink cloud platform, which provides monitoring, optimization and dispatch functions.
This combination of storage equipment and software reflects a broader industry trend: battery systems are increasingly valued not just for installed capacity, but for how intelligently and flexibly they can be operated.
Romania among the first markets for the new 233 kWh system
A notable element of Dunext’s announcement is that Romania is also among the first European markets where the company has started deploying its new liquid-cooled PowerHill-233 kWh solution.
Rated at 105 kW / 233 kWh, the all-in-one system integrates battery packs, PCS, MPPT modules and liquid cooling in a single cabinet and supports both DC coupling and AC coupling. Dunext positions it for applications such as peak shaving, self-consumption optimization, backup power and selected grid services.
The company places particular emphasis on safety, flexibility and long-term reliability. It describes the system as built around a multi-layer protection architecture and highlights the role of liquid cooling in improving thermal consistency, reducing degradation and supporting longer battery life. At the same time, Dunext argues that the platform is designed to improve project economics through reduced conversion losses, fast switching between grid-connected and off-grid operation, and simplified scaling.
A local presence beyond equipment supply
Beyond product launches, Dunext’s Romanian expansion appears to rely heavily on localization. The company says it is investing in a regional team of technical experts, project managers and service engineers able to support the full cycle of storage projects, from design and commissioning to maintenance and rapid on-site intervention.
This may prove essential in a market like Romania, where local service capability, bankability and execution reliability are becoming decisive criteria for project developers and end-users alike. Also, as battery storage moves closer to the center of the country’s energy transition, such moves are likely to intensify competition and accelerate market maturity.
