Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Doina Nistor, who also holds the portfolio of Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, believes that the Stock Exchange that will be established in Chisinau, with the support of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, represents an opportunity to develop bilateral trade and investment relations between Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

“I announced the launch of the stock exchange. It is a signal of market maturity. There would be no more suitable partner for a new stock exchange in Chisinau than the Bucharest Stock Exchange and I am confident that investments will gain momentum between our countries,” Doina Nistor told Agerpres on Tuesday.

Romanian and Moldovan authorities signed, on Monday in Chisinau, the partnership memorandum for the new Stock Exchange of the Republic of Moldova. The signing of the documents took place on the occasion of the international investment forum “Moldova Business Week”, which began on Monday and will end on September 19.

According to representatives of the National Investment Agency of the Republic of Moldova, this strategic collaboration aims to strengthen the capital market infrastructure in Moldova, stimulate foreign investment and facilitate the entry of international companies, develop alternative financing options for local companies, increase investor confidence through governance standards and the experience of the BVB. At the same time, the initiative reflects the deep historical, cultural and economic ties between Romania and Moldova and marks an important step in the modernization of the Moldovan financial sector, opening up new opportunities for sustainable economic growth.

The new stock exchange will operate on a shared model, benefiting from the expertise, transparency and trust of the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

The Government of the Republic of Moldova will become a shareholder through the Public Property Agency, along with three local banks (MAIB, OTP and Moldincombank), as well as the insurance company Vienna Insurance Group.
