DEER is carrying out the strategic project of installing the 1.1 million smart meters in the municipality of Brașov and in 13 other county capital municipalities in its area of activity, and in the municipality of Brașov the installation of the over 140,000 smart meters has already begun, the company announced.
The company’s management requested the support of local authorities to inform the population and facilitate access for DEER teams to install the equipment, within a local meeting.
“We are at the seventh meeting with representatives of local authorities and our message is simple: we serve the same community together. I appreciate the collaboration we have in Brașov and we want to strengthen it. We are investing heavily in this county, which is among the first in the DEER activity area, in terms of investments made in the network, and in order for these projects to quickly transform into benefits for communities, we need a permanent and solid partnership with local authorities”, said Mihaela Rodica Suciu, DEER General Manager.
At the same time, the DEER General Manager stressed the importance of good coordination for projects financed through the PNRR, so that they can be implemented without blockages that can be prevented through collaboration between institutions. Special attention was paid to the issue of vegetation in the vicinity of electrical networks, one of the important causes of interruptions in the electricity supply in the county. Mihaela Rodica Suciu proposed the creation of a joint intervention calendar, together with local authorities and competent institutions, for planning maintenance actions for safety lanes and reducing the risk of damage.
The discussions also addressed the management of connection requests for very high powers, which can generate additional investments in the network when they are not correlated with the real needs of the projects. DEER recommends consulting the distribution operator from the investment preparation stage, in order to identify the most efficient technical and economic solutions. The participants also discussed the expansion of electrical networks in new development areas, as well as the fight against fraudulent energy consumption and the need to operate public lighting installations under legal conditions, with supply contracts and appropriate measurement systems. During the period 2022–2025, Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania – Brașov Branch made investments in the modernization and development of the electricity network worth over 339 million lei, of which 163 million lei in the period 2024–2025.
