The Competition Council authorized the transaction by which Econergy International Limited, UK, intends to take over 50% of Rătești Solar Plant from Nofar Energy..

Prior to the transaction, Econergy and Nofar Ratesti each held a 50% stake in Rătești Solar Plant S.R.L. The total investment in Rătești, of approximately 120 million euros, was developed by Portland Trust, which sold the project in 2021 to Ecoenergy and Nofar Energy, according to sources consulted by Energynomics. Portland had obtained the technical approval for grid connection from Transelectrica for the 155 MW solar park in Argeș in December 2020.

Rătești Solar Plant is one of the largest solar projects in Romania, located on an area of 170 hectares in Argeș County. With a total installed capacity of 155 MW, it is expected to produce 220 GWh of electricity annually.

Econergy International Limited, UK, is active internationally in the field of renewable energy, carrying out projects in several European countries, including Romania. Ratesti Solar Plant S.R.L. is active in the field of production and sale of electricity from renewable sources.

Following the analysis, the Competition Council found that this operation does not raise significant obstacles to effective competition on the Romanian market or on a substantial part of it and that there are no serious doubts regarding its compatibility with a normal competitive environment.
