The Renault-Nissan Alliance sold globally over 400.000 electric vehicles and plans to increase investments to maintain its position of market leader, said on Wednesday the general manager of the alliance, Carlos Ghosn, during the Forum in Davos, in an interview for Reuters.

Donald Trump, President-elect of the United States of America, threatened with the introduction of taxes on cars produced abroad, automakers being affected by such a measure. But the general manager of the Renault-Nissan alliance, Carlos Ghosn, thinks that the auto industry will adapt to Trump’s policies.

We will increase the production capacity in the coming years and we expect for the details of the policies of the US President before taking a decision”.

“It wouldn’t be prudent for anyone to choose a factory in Mexico instead of one in the US, at least until the new administration does not announce specific measures”, explained the head of the alliance.

Ghosn reassured the investors that they should not be worried about investigations from Renault. “We know exactly what we have in our engines,” said Ghosn.

Renault and Nissan have partnered since 1999. Renault owns 44.3% stake in Nissan, while Nissan controls a package of 15% stake in Renault.

The Dacia company was taken over by Renault in 1999. Relaunched in 2004 with the Logan model, Dacia has become a well known player on the European car market.

Electrica and OMV Petrom recently inaugurated the first system of fast electrical charge, part of a pilot project in the field of electro-mobility that aims at developing the infrastructure of fast charging electric vehicles and educating the public about new technologies and trends in the energy sector.

On March 1st, energynomics.ro has scheduled a meeting within Energy Breakfast Club series, with electro-mobility as the main subject matter.
