Romania is deeply interested in completing the Energy Union and in European investments to increase interconnection capacity in the fields of electricity and natural gas, announced Cristian Bușoi, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Energy.

He participated, on Tuesday, in Brussels, in the debate within the Committee for Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) with the new Director General of the Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission, Celine Gauer, her first dialogue with the members of the committee, according to Agerpres.

The European official presented the measures adopted by the European Commission to limit the effects of the crisis generated by the conflict in the Middle East, as well as the future initiatives of the Community Executive in the field of energy.

“I led the ITRE Committee for 5 years and participated, as Secretary of State responsible for European relations, in the meetings of the Council of EU Energy Ministers. Romania is deeply interested in the completion of the Energy Union, in European investments to increase interconnection capacity, both in the field of electricity and natural gas, in investments from European funds (PNRR, Modernization Fund) in new energy production capacities, as well as in the modernization of transmission and distribution systems, district heating and in the revision of European legislation on methane emissions and storage obligations provided for in the NZIA”, wrote Cristian Bușoi on his Facebook page.

The European Energy Union is the EU strategy for secure, affordable and sustainable energy. Its main objective is to reduce dependence on foreign imports, guarantee competitive prices and transition to green resources through interconnected infrastructure and cross-border markets.
