Romania can be and will be a pillar of stability and an energy hub, at least in the field of gas supply, said Thursday, the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, at the Aspen – GMF Bucharest Forum.

“I think that, by and large, Europe has managed to find various methods to stop depending on Russian gas. Romania is excellent in this regard, Europe, in general, not so much. Yesterday I had a discussion with the minister the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Peter Szijjarto, and he stated that they cannot realistically disconnect from Russian gas at this time. We looked at possibilities to strengthen the interconnection so that (Hungary – n.d.) can use gas not only from Romania, but also from markets other than Russia. He was open to this idea,” he pointed out, according to Agerpres.

According to Burduja, Romania has also made progress in terms of green energy.

In his opinion, the Law on the necessary measures for carrying out operations for the exploitation of offshore wind energy will be complete by the end of the year.

“We have the prospect of several large projects in the Black Sea, which will be operational in 2032 – 2033”, added Sebastian Burduja.
