Bosch, a global leader in the provision of technologies and services, is consolidating its development activities in Romania and its strategic position within its global engineering network, by expanding the Bosch Engineering Center in Bucharest, within the company’s headquarters. Here, engineers will work on state-of-the-art projects for the development of solutions in the areas of automated, electric and connected mobility, within a hybrid, flexible, reliable work model.

“The Bosch Engineering Center in Cluj has steadily increased its development activities in recent years. It owns a number of global projects and has more than 1,000 engineers working on solutions for future mobility,” said Tobias Matter, director of the Bosch Engineering Center.

“Strengthening the position of the Engineering Center by increasing local responsibility and the number of projects gives our experts the chance to actively contribute to the process of transforming the company into a global AIoT leader,” added Matter. To support this expansion, the Bosch Engineering Center plans to increase the number of employees in the next period. In 2022, the company will have over 400 open positions in the field of software and hardware engineering.

Through the “Smart Work” initiative, Bosch has implemented a hybrid collaboration model globally, systematically modeling the interaction between remote work and work at the company’s headquarters. The new hybrid way of working, which combines the benefits of working from home, efficiency and agility and the benefits of office work, innovation and collaboration, has been successfully implemented in the Engineering Center of Romania since 2021.

The Bosch Engineering Center has a well-developed innovation ecosystem, based on attractive research and innovation projects for experienced professionals. In addition to Bosch’s global funding programs for internal start-ups, which can be applied with innovative ideas from all Bosch locations, the Romanian Engineering Center offers mentoring and acceleration programs to support local teams – from idea until the creation of viable products, but also framework programs for patent registration. Thus, in 2021 alone, 42 local inventions were registered.

The Bosch Engineering Center has played a key role in transforming the mobility sector since its inception in 2013. Through its extensive expertise in software, hardware and mechanical engineering and reliability engineering, but also in sales planning, more than 1,000 local experts contribute to the development of innovative solutions, based on artificial intelligence, applied in the fields of automated driving, electric mobility, connected and the Internet of Things. Thanks to the close collaboration with other Bosch engineering centers and the Bosch factory in Cluj, the center offers unique solutions to customers around the world.
