Bilfinger, an international industrial services provider, has signed a contract with BSOG Energy (BSOGE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Black Sea Oil & Gas, to deliver engineering services for the company’s first biomethane production facility, located in Alba County. The project marks the beginning of BSOGE’s strategy to invest in green energy production in Romania, with a focus on developing large-scale biomethane capacities.
The Alba facility is BSOGE’s first project of this kind. Founded in 2024, the company aims to accelerate Romania’s energy transition and contribute to the European Union’s climate objectives. “Our collaboration with Bilfinger represents a key milestone in BSOGE’s strategy to support the country’s energy transition. The selection of Alba County for this project reflects our commitment to leveraging local resources and investing in a sustainable energy future,” said Mark Beacom, BSOGE Managing Director.
For Bilfinger, this contract continues the partnership established in 2023 under a non-exclusive Framework Agreement. The company brings extensive expertise in engineering and industrial services, with a portfolio covering the entire value chain: consulting, design, installation, maintenance, and digital applications. “This collaboration builds on our strong relationship with BSOG, renowned for its pioneering offshore gas projects. Now, through BSOGE, the company is taking a decisive step toward green energy development, with a focus on large-scale biomethane opportunities,” emphasized Florin Prunaru, Operational Unit Director South Region at Bilfinger Engineering & Maintenance Central Eastern Europe.
BSOG, the parent company of BSOGE, started natural gas extraction from the Black Sea in 2022 and is now expanding its portfolio toward renewable energy. The new biomethane facility in Alba County is designed as the starting point for a portfolio of renewable projects meant to support Romania’s energy independence and reduce carbon emissions.
With more than 30,000 employees and revenues exceeding €5 billion in 2024, Bilfinger operates globally across Europe, North America, and the Middle East, positioning itself as a strategic partner for the process industry.
