The Association for Sustainable Fuels (ACS) is launching an initiative to accelerate the adoption of green hydrogen in Romania’s key economic sectors, marking a major step towards a sustainable and low-carbon economy. The program is supported by Linde Gaz Romania, a member of Linde plc., one of the global leaders in gas technology.

The initiative aims to provide the economic environment with information and best practices for the transition to a sustainable industry and to facilitate a closer collaboration between the private and public environment, leading to the formation of sustainable consortia that promote innovation and the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies.

In this sense, ACS is conducting a detailed analysis of the potential for regional development through hydrogen park-type ecosystems (Hydrogen Valleys), which can be more than production hubs, becoming centers of innovation and regional economic growth.

“Green hydrogen can help Romania attract financing and investments, being a support and not an obstacle for the industry. We have all the natural advantages to be a key player in the field. The main challenge for industrial applications is the administratively segmented approach and isolated, national and regional behavior. The solution is an economic activity initiated by companies, which will overcome national and regional barriers,” says Vlad Stoicescu, president of ACS.

Romania’s advantages on the green hydrogen market include: human resources, geographic position, natural resources and infrastructure under development. The implementation of sustainable industrial projects benefits from various financing solutions, including European and national funds, green bonds, PPA contracts (Power Purchase Agreement), etc.

“The transition to a sustainable industry is a long road, with many challenges and all the actors involved must commit to their contribution so that Romania capitalizes on its assets and takes advantage of the European agenda, thus building a competitive industry and economy in the long term long. We support the approach of ACS and contribute with over 100 years of experience of Linde, which is one of the global leaders in the production of industrial gases, including green hydrogen, as well as in their applications,” adds Alexandru Bădescu, Head of On-Site Supply, Linde Gas Romania.

Currently, Linde has realized and is developing extensive industrial decarbonization and green hydrogen projects in Europe, the USA and the Middle East.
