Annual inflation rate rose to 15% in June

The annual inflation rate rose to 15.1% in June this year, from 14.5% in May, given that the prices of non-food goods rose by 17.92%, those of food goods were higher by 14.67%, and the services were more expensive by 7.81%, according to the data published on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

“Consumer prices in June 2022 compared to May 2022 increased by 0.8%. The inflation rate from the beginning of the year (June 2022 compared to December 2021) is of 10.0%. The annual inflation rate in June 2022 compared June 2021 is of 15.1%. The average rate of consumer prices in the last 12 months (July 2021 – June 2022) compared to the previous 12 months (July 2020 – June 2021) is of 9.3%,” the release reads, according to Agerpres.

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), an indicator for determining inflation in EU Member States, is of 100.78% in June compared to May.

The annual inflation rate in June 2022 compared to June 2021 calculated on the basis of the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) is of 13%.

The average rate of consumer prices in the last 12 months (July 2021 – June 2022) compared to the previous 12 months (July 2020 – June 2021) determined on the basis of the HICP is of 7.9%.

The NBR increased its inflation forecast to 12.5% ​​by the end of this year and estimates an inflation of 6.7% by the end of next year.
