Alro Slatina wins a long term contract with the aircraft manufacturer Airbus

Airbus, the leading producer of aircraft, has selected the company Alro Slatina as provider of aluminum, the agreement is concluded for a period of several years, starting in 2017. According to the terms of the contract, Alro will provide flat-rolled aluminum products for aircraft manufacture, informs the company, in a press release.

“The significant investments we have made in upgrading our manufacturing equipment and expanding our portfolio have been successful,” said George Dobra, Alro CEO.

Alro holds the NADCAP certification of performance (the national accreditation program for contractors in the aerospace and defense industry) for the compliance with the requirements of the aerospace industry.

Alro is one of the largest consumers of electricity in Romania and one of the most influential voices in the relationship with the authorities.

Alro Slatina registered in the first quarter of this year a turnover of 564 million lei, down 5.6% from 598 million lei in the same period of 2015. The adjusted net profit of the company also increased to 41 million lei, almost double of the result of 23 million lei reported at March 31 st,2015.

Alro Slatina announced in June an investment program of 53 million dollars for this year, to increase energy efficiency and the equipment, the portfolio expansion and the increased competitiveness and product quality.

Alro is a subsidiary of Vimetco group, registered in the Netherlands and controlled by Russian businessman Vitali Machitski. The Romanian industrial combinate is the largest aluminum producer in continental Europe, excluding Russia and the Scandinavian Peninsula.
