Allen Coliban: Brasov will produce its own green electricity for free

The mayor of Brasov, Allen Coliban, announces that the city will produce its own green electricity, after obtaining financing of 40 million lei for a photovoltaic park. According to the mayor, 90% of the electricity needed for buildings and public services in the city will be provided free of charge.

“Brasov will produce its own green electricity for free. We obtained financing of over 40 million lei, through POIM, for the future photovoltaic park of Brasov. 90% of the electricity needed for buildings and public services in the city will be provided by its own park,” the mayor of Brasov wrote on Facebook on Tuesday, according to News.ro.

According to him, schools, kindergartens, nurseries, cultural institutions, street lighting and even the production of artificial snow in Poiana Braşov will be able to use electricity produced by the photovoltaic park.

“I remind you that, in September 2021, Brasov was the first city in Romania to assume ambitious environmental targets: in less than 10 years, it will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 55% and achieve climate neutrality by in 2050,” the mayor also stated.

He stated that the photovoltaic park will have 30,770 panels, will be built in Stupini, on an area of 35 hectares and will have a capacity of 20 MW.

The total value of the project is of about 108.5 million lei.
