Alexandru Chiriţă takes over the helm of the Electrica Group, with a temporary mandate

Electrica’s Board of Directors has decided to appoint Alexandru-Aurelian Chiriţă as Interim General Manager, after Corina Popescu left the company ahead of her mandate’s end date. Alexandru-Aurelian Chiriţă’s term began on May 17, 2022 and will last for three months, according to the company’s statement.

The new interim General Manager of Electrica is a lawyer and he practiced between 2009-2019. Starting in January 2019, he joined the Hidroelectrica team, taking over the position of Manager of the Legal Department and, subsequently, Manager of the Personal Data Protection Department.

“I thank the Board of Directors of Electrica for their trust, this nomination honors me and makes me equally responsible. I count on the support of the entire Electrica team so that together, with determination, we can direct our energy and effort towards the development of sustainable and profitable projects for the Electrica Group,” said Alexandru Chiriţă.

“We welcome Mr. Chiriţă to the Electrica team, we are confident that he will put all his energy and knowledge into fulfilling the objectives of his mandate and we assure him of the full support of the Board of Directors, in projects beneficial to the company,” said Cristian Bosoancă, Chairman of the Board of Administration of Electrica SA.

Electrica posted a loss of 157.8 million lei after the first quarter of this year (Q1), compared to the same period last year, when the company recorded a profit of 57.9 million lei, according to the Consolidated Report for the first quarter (Q1) of this year sent to the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

The company’s reported revenues amounted to 2.6 billion lei, up 52% ​​compared to the same period in 2021, amid an increase of 818.3 million lei in the supply segment and an advance of 97.5 million lei of revenues from the distribution segment.
