Today, 5 May, saw the start of the Energy Industry Career FORUM 2025, a major event dedicated to training the next generation of energy and electricity professionals. Organised by the Association of Energy and Electrical Engineers – AIEE, in strategic partnership with the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest and the Ministry of Energy, the forum runs from 5 to 11 May and continues with workshops scheduled for 15 May and 5 June.
This year’s edition introduces an extended structure, combining academic and institutional presentations with applied company workshops and technical field visits. Held in the Central Library of POLITEHNICII Bucharest and at the headquarters of industrial partners, the event brings together over 30 speakers, representing public authorities, academia and 12 leading companies in the sector. “We are delighted with the increased interest from companies and students, a clear indicator of the usefulness and expectations of this event,” said Mircea Bițoiu, President of AIEE. He emphasises that the 2025 edition comes with “a complex agenda” and “diversified actions to meet the needs of partner companies and to guide students interested in a career in the energy and electricity sector”.
More than 400 students from the Faculty of Energetics and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering have registered for the event, which kicks off with an intense opening day in the presence of high-profile guests. Among the opening speakers are Constantin Saragea (Ministry of Energy), Horia Necula (Prorector of POLITEHNICA Bucharest), Andrei Manea (RPIA), Liviu Gavrilă (RWEA), together with AIEE representatives Mircea Bițoiu and Daniel Costianu. Companies such as Nuclearelectrica, VINCI Energies, Rompetrol and Hidroelectrica will present their offers and initiatives in sessions moderated by AIEE members.
The coming days bring in the spotlight the presence of other relevant industry players. On Tuesday, 6 May, students will be able to interact directly with representatives from PPC Romania, Siemens Energy, Eximprod, Schneider Electric, Adrem, E-INFRA, DEER and Transelectrica. The academic agenda is complemented by experienced moderators – AIEE professors and researchers – who will support the dialogue between companies and students.
From 7 May onwards, the focus shifts to the practical side, with workshops at company headquarters. Rompetrol and PPC will host interactive workshops to give participants a first-hand insight into organisational culture and career opportunities. On Friday 9 May, the Transelectrica headquarters will host the workshop that concludes the first edition of the Dispatcher for a Day project, with a wrap-up session and exchange of experiences.
The tradition of the forum will continue on 10 and 11 May, reserved for technical visits to key energy infrastructure sites in Romania. Participants will visit CHE Mihăilești (Hidroelectrica), E-INFRA photovoltaic power plant, CEF Călugăreni, Chitila Power Station – PPC and Ploiești Distribution Branch – DEER.
The programme extends beyond the Forum week. On 15 May, VINCI Energies is organising a workshop for young engineers, followed on 5 June by a technical workshop hosted by Adrem. These initiatives extend the effects of the Forum and provide participants with continuity in their learning and career guidance.
The Energy Industry Career FORUM confirms the sector’s commitment to training a new generation of well-trained specialists, connected to the realities and requirements of the industry. It is an investment in the skills of the future and an example of collaboration between academia, government and energy industry leaders.
