Experts in architecture and urbanism from the country and from Europe (Berlin, Munich and Warsaw) will analyze, at the Cities of Tomorrow conference, between April 28 and 29, 2026, several methods for smart transformation of cities, regeneration of urban spaces, digitalization of services and public transport, using the experience and good practices successfully applied in major European cities.
International speakers include Monika Konrad, Deputy Director of the Municipal Office of Architecture and Spatial Planning and Coordinator of the Warsaw Strategic Masterplan, Arne Lorz, Director of Urban Planning and Development at the Munich City Hall, and Dr. Jochen Lang, Director of Urban Development, Construction and Housing at the Berlin City Hall. They will present concrete examples of transforming cities into more attractive, sustainable and people-oriented environments, with a focus on the green transition and the integration of innovation into urban policies.
Two panels will explore solutions for transforming cities into green urban ecosystems that support long-term economic development. Discussions will focus on urban regeneration projects and neighborhood reconfiguration strategies designed to improve quality of life and create economic and social value.
A multidisciplinary perspective on urban development will also be addressed in seven online roundtables, organized online from 21 to 23 April 2026, dedicated to key themes such as the circular economy, energy efficiency, urban safety, mobility, tourism, lifestyle and culture, digitalization and governance of cities, as well as the reconversion and revitalization of urban spaces.
Essential topics for urban transformation will be discussed: from the role of water as urban infrastructure, the reactivation of the Dâmbovița banks, to the cultural potential of green-blue corridors, the transformation of existing spaces into new urban ecosystems to energy-efficient buildings. Other important aspects of urban development, which can be implemented through public-private partnerships, aim at waste management and reuse, educating communities in the spirit of the circular economy, metropolitan trains, urban connectivity, rainwater management, risk reduction and protection of natural ecosystems, the role of public administration digitalization in accelerating real change in cities.
The ideas and proposals formulated within Cities of Tomorrow 2026 can form the basis of future projects aimed at transforming cities into poles of economic growth and contributing to improving the quality of urban life.
