The Moldova region has an important strategic potential for the economic development of Romania, through human resources, the academic environment and the capacity for innovation, with the German economy supporting investments and strengthening collaboration between companies, authorities and universities, said Sebastian Metz, general director of AHK Romania, during a regional event organized in Iași.
“For AHK Romania, regional presence is essential, because Romania’s sustainable economic development is built by strengthening all its regions. Moldova has an important strategic potential at the national level – through human resources, a strong academic environment and the capacity for innovation. The voice of the German economy firmly supports the development of this region, and we want to be an active partner in this process, facilitating dialogue between companies, authorities and universities and supporting investments that can contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the region,” said Sebastian Metz, general director and member of the Board of Directors of AHK Romania, quoted in the press release.
According to a press release from the organization, between May 20-22, AHK Romania held a program of activities in Iași dedicated to strengthening cooperation between companies, public authorities and higher education institutions, highlighting the potential of the Moldovan region as a strategic pole of economic development and innovation.
The event’s agenda included fact-finding visits to the Mennekes Electric company and the Delgaz Grid transformer station (E.ON Romania), relevant for the dynamics of industrial investments and for the development of energy infrastructure in the region – an essential element for Moldova’s competitiveness and investment attractiveness, the cited source states.
“A central moment of the program was the participation in the fourth edition of EduTech Fest, organized by the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iași”, the press release states.
According to the cited source, AHK Romania paid special attention to the round table dedicated to the dialogue between the academic environment and companies, the discussions highlighting the importance of partnerships between education and the private sector for developing future skills, accelerating innovation and increasing regional competitiveness.
AHK Romania is the official representation of the German economy. Established in 2002, AHK has over 700 members. Starting with January 1, 2020, the Competence Center for the Republic of Moldova also operates within AHK Romania.
