Romania imported twice as much electricity in the first half of this year

The country’s electricity imports amounted to 3.49 TWh in the first six months of this year, twice as much as in the same period last year, respectively 1.74 TWh, according to the latest report of the National Authority of Energy Regulation (ANRE).

The electricity production delivered by the plants was of 24.88 TWh, 12% less than last year, according to Agerpres.

Hydropower plants produced 43.7%, nuclear reactors – 20%, gas plants – 14.2%, and coal – 11.9%.

Wind energy provided 7.6% of the total, photovoltaic – 2.2%, and biomass – 0.16%.

At the same time, domestic consumption decreased by 7% to 25.94 TWh. Consumption of household customers increased by 2%, while consumption in industry was lower by 10%.
