The impact of OUG114 was completely unpredictable and unpleasant, which is why the problem of vulnerable consumers needs to be resolved as quickly as possible, said Ion Lungu, President of the Association of Electric Power Suppliers in Romania (AFEER).

„The reintroduction of consumer protection has remained unresolved, somehow the advantage of the regulated segment for a period of three years,” Lungu said, according to financialintelligence.ro.

„Vulnerable consumers are theoretically defined, but basically this definition has not happened. Everything is about a balance between income and resources … Defining vulnerable consumers means having a database of those who are actually vulnerable consumers who need to be protected by two types of approach: a financial one – granting aid or the exemption from certain financial obligations – and one that rather informs consumers about how they can better use their energy,” AFEER president said.
