The process of making the Energy Strategy of Romania entered the stage of the qualitative analysis, after the release of the structured statistical information about the current state of the energy sector, said Radu Dudău, advisor to the Minister of Energy and team coordinator for completion of the energy strategy. The phase will be concluded by a report which will be published around April 25th.

“A new stage begins this week: the qualitative analysis of the energy sector. Between March 9th and April 15th we will have five distinct work sessions: electricity, oil and gas, energy efficiency, cogeneration, energy governance and security and energy diplomacy. Around 200 top experts will be involved from the Romanian energy sectors, Government, Parliament, academics, companies, regulatory authorities and other ministries”, said Radu Dudău, writes Agerpres.

The resulting document will also present the vision of the Ministry of Energy regarding the energy sector development. The analysis will focus on explaining the vulnerabilities and solutions, he added.

“We have to see what costs will occur if Romania will have ambitious targets related to reducing the emissions. The coal industry in Romania has a future only if technologies are clean. We need, therefore, complex investments in capabilities including capturing and storing the carbon dioxide. This is the chance in the long term, but we must always take into account in achieving the energy strategy, the short and medium-term prospects. You make plans in vain for 2050 if you have no plans for the next week, month and year. We must have energy at the socket during this period”, said Radu Dudău.

He pointed out that an important place in the strategy will be for the vulnerable consumers and the safety measures for their protection.
