Transelectrica will investigate the causes and conditions in which the power failure in the electricity transmission system took place on Friday, it is shown in a release of the company.

According to the quoted source, the incident occurred in Domneşti Station during the maneuvers of the refurbishment works, and the refueling maneuvers were completed in approximately one hour.

“Today, August 7, 2020, at 12:47, in the 400/110/20 kV Domneşti substation, a damage occurred which led to the interruption of the electricity supply of an area in Bucharest…The company has launched an investigation to determine the exact causes and conditions of the incident. The refueling maneuvers began immediately after the incident and were successfully completed in about 60 minutes. We mentions that that Domneşti Station is in full process of refurbishment and we are convinced that through the investment made, the risk of such incidents will decrease significantly,” states Transelectrica, according to Agerpres.

The power supply of the adjacent stations serving the western and central area of Bucharest and neighboring areas of Ilfov and Giurgiu counties was interrupted on Friday, at around 13:00, following an incident in the electricity transmission system, previously announced by the representatives of E-Distribuţie Muntenia.

Following this incident, several neighborhoods in Bucharest, including Drumul Taberei, Militari, Giuleşti, Rahova, Bucureştii Noi, Victoriei and Aviatorilor, were affected by the blackout.
