Market liberalization, from 2021; Hidroelectrica and Nuclearelectrica, obliged to sell up to 65% of the production at a capped price

Two draft Orders of the Energy Regulatory Authority confirm that the total deregulation of the electricity market will take place on January 1, 2021. Until that date, the Authority will establish regulated quantities and prices for electricity for domestic consumers, according to e-nergia.ro.

“The application periods (of the regulated prices) are the following: – the first period of application 01.01.2020 – 30.06.2020; – the second application period 01.07.2020 – 31.12.2020 ”, is shown in the projects.

Hidroelectrica and Nuclearelectrica are obliged by ANRE to sell up to 65% of the electricity produced between July 1, 2020- December 31, 2020 at regulated price, of cost plus 5% profit, energy that will be sold subsequently by the suppliers of last resort to the population under the regulated regime.

ANRE orders come into effect on December 12.
