WALDEVAR Energy has obtained the complete EPC contract for the design, procurement, delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning of the Gheorgheni 110 kV, 63 MVA transformer station, with GEN-I Sonce as the beneficiary. The project aims to be the beginning of a partnership between the two companies and reinforces WALDEVAR Energy’s expertise in high-voltage infrastructure.

According to the agreement, WALDEVAR Energy will provide full Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) services for the integration of the beneficiary’s energy assets into the national transmission network, collaborating with the Transmission System Operator (TSO) Transelectrica.

High-voltage electrical stations and the associated infrastructure are vital for the efficient integration of new energy production and storage capacities. Cristian Dragomir, CEO of WALDEVAR Energy, emphasized that “delivering critical energy transport and distribution infrastructure is essential for accelerating the energy transition in Europe.” For his part, Gregor Hudohmet, CEO of GEN-I Sonce, added that the first collaboration with WALDEVAR Energy “reflects the shared commitment to developing high-quality energy infrastructure.”

The agreement was announced during Intersolar Europe 2026, where WALDEVAR Energy presented its integrated solutions for energy generation, transmission, and distribution. WALDEVAR has a portfolio of over 3.5 GW of projects, a team of over 2,000 specialists, and a fleet of 400 specialized machines.

GEN-I Sonce is one of Slovenia’s leading providers of renewable energy solutions, offering turnkey photovoltaic systems and advanced clean energy technologies for residential and commercial customers.
