Romania will focus on building new capacities for energy-based production using natural gas, nuclear energy and renewable resources, Energy Minister Virgil Popescu said in Azerbaijan.

“At the opening of the Baku Energy Forum, I delivered a speech at the ministerial session, exploring the dynamics of the energy sector in its current context. I said that despite recent difficulties and constraints, Romania’s goal is to turn challenges into opportunities and focus on developing new energy generation capabilities based on low-carbon technologies using natural gas, nuclear energy and renewable sources,” the minister wrote on Facebook on Thursday, according to Agerpres.

At the same time, Romania is focusing on accelerating the process of implementing advanced innovative solutions, while modernizing the energy infrastructure.

“We had as dialogue partners the Azerbaijani Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, Deputy Prime Minister and Serbian Minister of Energy and Mines, Zorana Mihajlovic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Moldova, Andrei Spînu, Kazakhstan’s energy minister, Bolat Akchulakov, and other decision-makers. We all agreed that cooperation is needed to diversify sources and routes of transport to combat the effects of the energy crisis and those caused by the Russian war in Ukraine,” added Popescu.
