Vestas up 43% of wind turbines ordered capacity, while orders in Europe decrease

Wind turbine orders decreased in Europe by 14%, reveals the stats presented by Wind Europe in the first quarter of the year (Q1). There were 1.6 GW of new ordered capacity in nine countries of Europe, marking a 14% decrease over Q2 of 2018. With a presence in five European countries, Vestas succeeded securing 43% of the ordered capacity over the reported quarter. As a novelty, there were the first +5MW onshore turbines from Vestas and GE receiving orders in Q2, according to WindEurope’s Q2 2019 Wind Turbine Orders Monitor.

Spain led with the most ordered capacity (485 MW), followed by Finland (313 MW) and Ukraine (277 MW). Only one order was registered in offshore wind segment (48 MW), with MHI Vestas supplying turbines for the Kincardine floating offshore wind farm in UK.
