The economy of Transylvania and Banat continues to confirm its status as a growth pole for Romania. The top 25 companies in the region recorded a cumulative net profit of over 7.5 billion lei in 2024, according to Smartreports Powered By Bridge-To-Information data.
The leaders come from key sectors such as energy, automotive, pharmaceuticals and IT, and their performances show both the strength of foreign investments and the maturation of local businesses. The ranking highlights the dominant role of Cluj, which concentrates almost half of the top companies, but also the power of strategic players from Sibiu, Timiș, Alba or Brașov, writes Transilvania Business.
Depending on the fields of activity, it can be seen that Energy and utilities – Romgaz, Transgaz, DEER, E.ON, Nova Power & Gas, Mol Romania, ensure almost half of the total profit.
The automotive and components industry – Continental, Star Assembly, Autoliv, Hella, Emerson, Brandl ensure massive exports and integration into global chains.
Pharmaceuticals and chemicals – Gedeon Richter, Terapia, Linde Gaz ensure stability and constant profits.
Construction and building materials are represented by Bilka Steel, Pizzaroti and Electrogrup.
IT is represented by Endava, Agribusiness & food by Transavia, and fuels for transporters by Smart Diesel.
The performances of these companies confirm that Transylvania and Banat remain among the most dynamic economic regions of Romania, where local capital and international investments complement each other. If energy and the automotive industry still dominate the top of profitability, emerging trends in IT, construction and agribusiness show that diversification will be the key to long-term sustainability. In the coming years, it remains to be seen whether Cluj will consolidate its supremacy or whether other regional centers will manage to reduce the gaps
