The energy transition is not just about installing photovoltaic panels but also about integrating digital tools that can radically transform the way solar projects are designed and implemented. Ovidiu Ivănică, founder of Sunwire, proposes three ways in which digitalization can help installers deliver more efficient projects for beneficiaries.
“One of the biggest bottlenecks comes in the area of documentation and grid connection. Even if the technical set-up can be done in a short time, the lack of compliant documentation, which differs from one grid operator to another, can significantly delay the commissioning of the system,” he said at the DigitALL 2025 conference organised by Energynomics.
According to Ivănică, the solution comes from digital. In this way, intelligent platforms and AI-based tools can automate the generation of documentation, adapting it in real time to the legal and technical requirements of each project. This decreases waiting time and makes the process more predictable, although not all challenges are eliminated. Proper interaction with the grid is critical to system performance. From adjusting the voltage level to adapting to the network load, any wrong technical decision can lead to malfunctions or energy losses.

Modern digital platforms allow real-time monitoring and automatic adjustment of technical parameters. In a photovoltaic system, self-consumption is a key indicator of profitability. The more local consumption, the lower the grid dependency and losses.
“It’s a huge support for installers and beneficiaries because it reduces risk and increases reliability. Using the data available from production equipment, we can synchronise certain appliances or industrial processes with peak solar production,” the Sunwire founder added.
The “DigitALL 2025” conference was organised by Energynomics, in partnership with reputed organisations such as the CIO Council and EPG, with the support of our partners: ABB, Corning, Datacor, Eaton Electric, Enevo Group, Enevo Group, Procesio, Renomia, script.ai, Sunwire, Vertiv.
