On the economic forefront, we are witnessing EU member states breaking away from economic stagnation and emerging stronger from the crisis. Without a doubt, the year 2014 is set to be pivotal for the southeast European region.

It is within this light, that we have great pleasure in announcing the organization of The Economist EU-Southeast Europe Summit entitled On The Road to Stability and Growth.

We have selected Romania to be the host country for this year’s event. As last year in Bulgaria, distinguished personalities from Europe will once again be invited to brainstorm, openly debate and put forward proposals on all the issues that this year’s summit in Bucharest will be covering.

The Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta together with his Cabinet Ministers are fully supportive of this initiative and shall take part in the EU-Southeast Europe Summit Gala Dinner to share leadership strategy with decision-makers from politics, business, finance and academia from around Europe on Romania’s potential so that the country finds its position on the global agenda. Other Prime Ministers and Cabinet Ministers from the region shall also be invited to participate.
