Rompetrol Rafinare recorded a turnover of over 1.4 billion USD in Q1 2026, up by 8% compared to Q1 2025, as a result of the optimal operation of the largest refinery in Romania – Petromidia Năvodari, but also against the background of the significant increase in European refining margins, which reached an average level of 128.1 USD/MT in Q1 2026.

Through its operational activity, the company reached an EBITDA (operating profit before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of 27.5 million USD.

Positive financial results were also achieved due to the streamlining of production processes in the two refineries, which operated at optimal capacity, using a mix of raw materials that increased white product yields, but also as a result of the dynamic sales strategy, both for fuels and for polymers and value-added products in Vega.

Operational profitability was recorded despite the scheduled shutdown in March, in the two refineries. Over 700 maintenance works were performed during the overhaul, and 900 pieces of equipment (static, dynamic and electrical) and about 1,200 pipes were inspected and tested.

One objective achieved was the recertification and extension of the operating permits issued by the authorities, ensuring continued compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.

The overhaul works are mandatory for the optimal operation of the Petromidia and Vega refineries, which cover about 50% of the total refining capacity in Romania. The two production units were successfully restarted at the end of Q1, operating at full capacity after the planned shutdown.

Compared to Q1 2025, between January and March 2026, Rompetrol Rafinare increased the share of fuels directed to the domestic market (66%) to meet demand in Romania. Thus, both the quantities and the value of the company’s exports decreased by about 33%.

In the first quarter of the year, Rompetrol Rafinare significantly increased its contribution to the state budget, from $372 million in Q1 2025 to $577 million in Q1 2026 (an amount determined mainly by the taxes, duties and excises borne by the company).
