Rompetrol expands by 9 stations the fuel distribution network in Georgia and Moldova

Rompetrol Georgia and Rompetrol Moldova, subsidiaries of KMG International, opened 9 new stations from the beginning of the year, increasing the network from the two countries to 128 fuel distribution points.

The company intends to open 10 more stations in these countries by the end of the year.

“The experience gained in the years in both countries and the operational results of the two subsidiaries have an important contribution to the long-term strategy of the company, to develop the retail segment in the Black Sea area and in Western Europe, supported by our sole shareholder – KazMunayGas.

In the next period, our objective is to further develop activities with potential in the Balkan region , depending on market conditions ” said Catalin Dumitru, Vice President of KMG International.

Rompetrol Georgia is currently on the market for 9 years and in Moldova the company has a tradition of 12 years, the fast development of the operations was due to quality products imported from Petromidia refinery.

The new stations were upgraded under the new premium concept of retail distribution, characterized by new elements of visual identification of the Rompetrol brand, quality of the materials and a different architecture of the station.In 2013, the development of the retail segment by increasing the number of stations, by investments in the modernization works and improvement of the wholesale trade policy determined an increase in total fuel sales. Thus, the total volume of fuel sold in the two markets was of 286 ktones, 30% more compared to 2012.

Rompetrol Georgia has continued to diversify its retail operations by introducing EfixS a premium fuel, which resulted in 60 % increase in sales in the Rompetrol stations. The company also implemented “Fill & Go”, the first pay at the pump service in the local market.Currently, Rompetrol Georgia operates 71 stations and two fuel depots in Batumi and Tbilisi port with a capacity of 35,000 cubic meters.

Regarding Rompetrol Moldova, the company aims to increase revenues also from fuel sales related activities (shop), thus it invested in the development of 14 stores to serve the stations.In Moldova, in addition to the 57 stations, the company also owns 4 stations, located in the north of Moldova , which sell exclusively LPG, and storage capabilities in Târnova (only LPG) and Chisinau, with a total capacity 6.000 cbm. The company currently sells LPG in almost half of stations operated and the whole amount of LPG is imported from Kazakhstan.

Rompetrol retail activities are sustained by over 1,100 fuel outlets owned and operated in countries such as Romania, France, Spain, Moldova, Georgia and Bulgaria.
