Romania’s economy advanced 4.1% in 2019

The growth pace of the Romanian economy slowed to 4.1% last year, after increases of 4.4% in 2018 and 7.1% in 2017, according to the National Institute of Statistics signal estimates published on Friday.

In the last quarter of 2019, the advance of the Gross Domestic Product accelerated by 1.5% compared to the previous quarter, when, in the third quarter of 2019 compared to the second quarter, the GDP advance was of 0.6%, according to Agerpres. Compared to the similar period of 2018, in the last quarter of last year, the economic growth was of 4.3% on the gross series and of 4.2% on the seasonally adjusted series.

In November 2019, the National Strategy and Forecast Commission (CNSP) revised, downwards, the estimates for the economic growth for the year 2019, in the lower vicinity of the level of 4%, compared to 5.5% as estimated in the Spring Forecast, taking in account the sectorial statistical data of the national accounts available for the first semester of the current year.
