Rockwool Romania, the main producer of basalt mineral wool, shows that thermal insulation of the house with this product brings benefits related not only to significant reductions in energy bills, but also increased fire safety, increased acoustic comfort and a healthy climate inside the home.

“Those who choose to insulate their house with basalt mineral wool can see from the beginning discounts of 70% of the bills for heating and cooling the house. The initial investment is recovered in a few years, especially given that the state financially supports 60% of the effort, and Rockwool products are affordable, as we have a basalt mineral wool factory near Ploiești, an investment of 50 million euro,” said Florin Popescu, Business Unit Director, Rockwool Balkans.

“An even more important aspect than saving money on maintenance bills is the increased level of fire safety that a house covered with basalt mineral wool has, which means extra care for us and our families in the face of fire. Rockwool wool does not burn and falls into class A reaction to fire, the highest, meaning it is incombustible, does not burn and melts at over 1,000°C. The wool also allows the walls to breathe, which prevents the formation of mold and contributes to creating a healthy climate inside the home,” he added.

In Romania there are approximately 8.2 million homes, distributed in 5.1 million buildings. In the urban area, 72% of the dwellings are in block-type buildings, while in the rural area 94.5% of the dwellings are single-family houses. The latter represent no less than 98% of the residential fund, while 37% of housing in Romania is concentrated in only 2% of residential buildings (residential blocks). The total living area has continuously increased in Romania, from 270 million sqm in 2000 to 425 million sqm in 2016.

The Danish group supports the “Energy Efficient House” program.
