Rezolv Energy, backed by global sustainable infrastructure investor Actis, announces the selection of key partners for Phase 2 of the VIFOR wind farm in Buzău County. The Austrian PORR Group will provide the civil and electrical infrastructure and Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines will supply the 400 kV transformer. Construction works are planned to start in the fall of 2025.

Phase 1 of the VIFOR wind project is under construction and is expected to be completed in spring 2026 with the installation of 30 Vestas V162 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.4 MW. Phase 2 involves 42 Vestas EnVentus V162 Vestas V162 turbines of 6.4 MW each – the most powerful turbines installed so far in Romania, which will bring the total capacity of the wind farm to 461 MW. This energy is equivalent to powering over 700,000 households and will propel VIFOR into the league of the largest onshore wind farms in Europe, making it the most important wind project completed in Romania in the last decade.

Launched in 2022 with the support of Actis, Rezolv Energy manages a portfolio of 2.3 GW under development in South East Europe, of which VIFOR is the flagship wind flagship. In addition, the portfolio includes Dama Solar – which, with 1,044 MW, is set to become the largest solar power plant in Europe – the 600 MW Danube East & West wind farms in Constanta and the 225 MW St. George photovoltaic project in northeast Bulgaria. This geographic and technological diversification provides investors and clients with robust exposure to the regional energy transition, reducing concentrated risks and maximizing opportunities for synergy between resources.

The completion of Phase 2, estimated for summer 2027, will make VIFOR a benchmark for renewable capacity development in Romania.
