Ludovic Orban resigned as prime minister. “My goal is to build a parliamentary majority that does not include PSD,” Orban said on Monday night, reinforcing the idea that he will be involved in negotiations for the formation of the future government. “I tried to do my duty to Romania and I leave the position of prime minister with the sentiment of the fulfilled duty”, Ludovic Orban also said. The cabinet he led took power on November 4, 2019 and faced a hostile Parliament, in an extremely difficult period, dominated by the Covid-19 pandemic and the economic crisis caused by it.

PSD won the parliamentary elections with 30.17% of the votes cast for the Senate and 29.79% for the Chamber of Deputies, followed by PNL, which obtained 25.36% in the Senate and 25.01% in the Chamber of Deputies, announced on Monday the Central Electoral Bureau, after the centralization of the results of 84.91% of the polling stations.

In third place is the USR PLUS Alliance, which obtained 15.29% in the Senate and 14.85% in the Chamber of Deputies, according to Agerpres.

The Party for the Union of Romanians (AUR) has 8.50% votes in the Senate and 8.16% in the Chamber of Deputies, and UDMR obtained 6.82% in the Senate and 6.64% in the Chamber of Deputies.

Until 16.00, the results from 16,603 polling stations were centralized at the level of the county electoral offices, representing 84.91% of the total of 19,553 polling stations.
