Romania has exceeded, at this moment, 60% of the absorption on the PNRR and on Friday, on June 5, we will most likely have the EcoFin Council that will give the final necessary check for the payment request number four, announced on Wednesday, the Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragoș Pîslaru.

According to him, in the coming period, 3 billion euros are to enter the country.

“Romania, at this moment, has exceeded 60% of the absorption on the PNRR. On June 5, Friday, to be more clear, we will most likely have the EcoFin Council (Economic and Financial Affairs Council, n.r.), which will give the final necessary check for the fourth payment request. I remind you that during this Bolojan government, we unblocked the PNRR, we recovered an amount from the third payment request and we had the fourth payment request completely clean and this means that 3 billion euros are going to enter the country in the next period, being over 60%. Now, our focus is on the fifth and sixth payment requests that we are arranging and we hope that by Friday we will have all the necessary technical details”, the minister stated in a press conference at the MIPE headquarters.

According to him, after all these aspects are agreed with the European Commission, Romania will submit an application to have the new structure and will enter a process through which, during July, the final authorized form should be ready, according to Agerpres.

Regarding the reforms, the interim minister specified that the discussions with the European Commission are a little more complicated on the subject of decarbonization, because Romania has prepared a study and is trying to demonstrate that it needs the remaining coal capacities.

“I remind you that the idea now is that if we have this radical improvement in the area of grants, we will almost certainly make the investments, then each of the reforms we have to do is crucial so that we can unlock the related money. What I would like to emphasize is that the last details are being worked on, apart from the reform related to decarbonization, where the discussions are a bit more complicated at the moment and we need to see how we do it, because Romania has prepared a study, trying to demonstrate that we need the remaining coal capacities. Apart from this reform, we had rather good discussions on all the other reforms,” he emphasized.
